The Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Department of Health
Evaluation Sciences, a growing biostatistics program at the University
of Virginia School of Medicine (in Charlottesville) has openings for a
faculty biostatistician, an M.S. biostatistician, and a B.S.
statistician.
Assistant or Associate Professor of Biostatistics
We are seeking an innovative faculty member for a full-time Assistant
or Associate Professor position. The applicant must have a Ph.D. in
biostatistics or in statistics with significant experience in medical
applications. The applicant must have a strong background in some of
the following areas: genetics, health services research, clinical
trials, Bayesian modeling and longitudinal data analysis. Superb oral
and written communication skills and excellent facility with modern
statistical computing languages are also essential. Responsibilities
of the position include collaboration with medical faculty and staff,
biostatistical research, teaching in the School of Medicine and in the
Division of Statistics, development of independently funded research,
and participation in an integrated research effort which is closely
aligned with clinical and basic science research. Applications may be

M.S. Biostatistician (Biostatistician II)
This position requires an M.S. in biostatistics and some knowledge of
medicine or biology. A command of categorical & nonparametric
analysis, and multivariable modeling is required. Applicants must be
proficient in modern high level statistical languages such as S-PLUS
or in SAS and in database management.
B.S. Biostatistician (Biostatistician I)
This position requires a B.S. in biostatistics, statistics, math,
computer science, or related quantitative field, experience
with programming or database management.
Applicants for either the Biostatistician I or II positions must have
excellent communication skills. Successful applicants will work
closely with biostatistical and medical faculty and staff,
participating in an integrated research effort which is closely
aligned with clinical and basic science research. To apply for a
