One of the methods described in the Splus 2000 Guide to Statistics (Vol 2) is
complex demodulation. If I have correctly understood the description of the
technique (p.200), it appears suitable for examining levels of temporal
variability in a given signal at a particular harmonic. Unfortunately, the
background info in the manual is a little thin for those individuals not
already
familiar with the method, particularly if they are not statisticians.
Therefore,
if anyone can point me towards a useful primer as well as suggest how one
should
parameterise the pass and stop frequencies, I'd be most grateful.

Many thanks.

Phil Trathan.
