I would like to evaluate cbind(S$GCS,S$Vent) from the character string
"S$GCS,S$Vent", where S is a data frame, and GCS and Vent are column names.
One of my many attempts has been to try
eval(call("cbind",as.name("S$GCS,S$Vent"))), but this gives the error message

Error: Object "S$GCS,S$Vent1" not found

What is the correct way of attempting this task?

Thanking you in advance

Richard
