If you just need some code that computes the gamma (or log-gamma) function,
and not necessarily reproduce exactly what Splus does, you can find such
info on Guide to Available Mathematical Software (GAMS):

If you want the algorithm, I'd imagine the classic Abramowitz & Stegun (now
available online at http://www.math.sfu.ca/~cbm/aands/) would have it.
