Try Agresti (Categorical Data Analysis, Wiley 1990) p.367. You can program
this yourself in S-Plus easily enough although someone out there might have
a function written.

Subject: [S] Estimation of variance for Kappa Statistic

Hello All!!

This question pertains to the Categorical data, of
multiple raters when the numbers of ratings per
subject vary.

I want to know the variance estimate of the Kappa
statistic for the above type of data.
Is there any way I can figure it out in Splus or any
suggestion for a program/function calculating the
above variance estimate.

Thanks in advance.

-Jagadish
