I should have stated "do not mention Chris Fraley *and* Adrian Raftery"
or - even better - used some more explicit way of
referring to their joint authorship of the MCLUST software.

No, although the references in my copy do mention Raftery ....
As I understand it, mclust in S+6.0 is older than mclust which was
distributed on that site, and is different from MCLUST. As the site says
NOTE: the function 'mhtree' for hierarchical clustering in MCLUST
supercedes the function 'mclust' in commercial S-PLUS
There is a pre-compiled version of MCLUST for S+6.x for Windows at
http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/MASS3/Winlibs.
