Hello everybody,
thanks to Andy Liaw, Ronald J. Fehd, Robert G. Garrett, V. Bill Pikounis
and Jim Pratt for their replies to my inquiry on horizontal boxplots.
Basically, there doesn't seem to exist an implemented solution to obtain
horizontal boxplots by the use of the function boxplot() under S-Plus
Version 3.4 (under Unix, what I forgot to mention in my original question).
One possibility, however, is, of course, to use the trellis function
bwplot() (what, unfortunately, wasn't what I wanted to do, but seems to
be the easiest solution to finally resort to).
The closest solution to what I wanted was given by parts of a set of three
functions provided by Robert G. Garrett. These functions can certainly be
modified or extended to suit most people's needs. I'd be happy to forward
them to anybody interested (if you don't mind, Bob).
Best regards -- Gerrit
