Get lots of memory?

Apart from that we have nothing useful to go on.  Perhaps the
task is intrinsically time-consuming?  We would need to know
a great deal more to be able to help more specifically (S-PLUS version,
platform, amount of RAM, what you are trying to do, how you are
trying to do it, a test example of the problem ...).
