David Ikle might comment on how he managed the list before me.

For my part, the amount of junk/spam hitting the list grew so great that I quit trying to track down the few people trying to post without being members of the list to tell them to join and them post. I left them to email me directly (jmp-l-owner email address) and then I gave them the help they needed.

About once a month or so, I login to the list management webpage and remove email addresses that have been bouncing a lot lately. That plus responding to questions about the list sent to me directly is how I've run the list.

There is no hardware, software, networking obligation. You manage the list (but are called Owner).

I'd prefer to see the list turned into a proper JMP Users Forum myself, but that is beyond my skill level.

Just to clarify, this list is absolutely independent of SAS, although they

For what it is worth - I vote INDEPENDENCE ... since SAS is notorious for
obfuscation.

Would you describe what is or has been involved/required to operate as
"owner". For example, does ownership include computer hardware, network resources or just acting as list manager? Have you already approached SAS to fill this role? Is there interest on the participants' part to maintain
independence?
Thanks,
Sean

I've been the JMP-L list "owner" since June 2004. Several factors
unrelated to the list require that I turn this duty over to someone
else.

If you have any interest, let me know. I'd like to find a replacement
in the next few weeks. The time commitment is minimal (at least the
way I've handled things---you can, of course, do more if you like).
