Thread-topic: JMP 6/E-academy activation
Just a quick follow up on my activation problem - two people, including
the tech I spoke with originally at E-academy, contacted me promptly
after I posted the issue. The problem was sorted out when I gave the
tech remote access to my computer. I'm not sure what caused the failure,
but am relieved that it's fixed.

Thanks!

If this is inappropriate for the list, I apologize, but I'm at wit's end
trying to activate an installation of JMP 6. I recently purchased a 12
month license from E-academy but when I tried to install and activate
the install the activation routine crashes (access violation) both on my
home and my office machine. I'm at the end of the trial period, the
program no longer rus and I have a significant amount of data in JMP
files; neither JMP nor E-academy seems able to offer a solution despite
the fact that I've sent them the log files created when the activation
routine crashes. JMP claims that the problem lies in the E-academy
activation routine and E-academy no longer responds to emails or phone
calls.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Thanks!

I had problems activating version 6 also because JMP's registration
routine apparently couldn't get past my company's firewall. I don't
recall the activation routine crashing - just failing to activate my
installation and at one point even saying that the license number was
invalid. I'm not sure how it finally got sorted out in the end, but I
was about 5 minutes away from tossing JMP. I've stopped using GenStat
for exactly that reason. I wonder at what point software companies
will decide that overly restrictive security procedures are turning away
more loyal customers than they are converting 'pirate' user to become
loyal customers?

-sorry - no solution - just a shared gripe.
