        Second Announcement and Final Call for Papers



This workshop concentrates on the various aspects of statistical
modelling, including theoretical developments, applications and
computational methods. Papers motivated by real practical problems are
desirable, but theoretical contributions addressing problems of
practical importance or related to software developments are also
welcome. The scientific programme is characterized by having invited
lectures & tutorials, contributed papers, posters and software
demonstrations. 

Invited Speakers:

John B.C. Copas (Warwick, UK), 
Anthony C. Davison (Lausanne, Switzerland), 
Jeffrey D. Hart (Texas A&M, USA), 
Saskia le Cessie (Leiden, The Netherlands), 
Charles E. McCulloch (Cornell, USA),
Ib M. Skovgaard (Frederiksberg, Denmark), 
Gordon K. Smyth (Queensland, Australia), 
Jon C. Wakefield (London, UK). 
Tutorials on Bootstrapping and Generalized Linear Mixed Models will be
given by A. Davison and C. McCulloch, respectively.

Student Session:
================
Professors should encourage students to attend the workshop. The
programme is designed to allow for discussions and interchange between
junior and senior scientists. One session is devoted entirely to
students, and awards are given to the winner of the Best Student
Papers. 

Authors:
========
To prepare abstracts and manuscripts we encourage the use of LaTeX. A
special style file and a template can be downloaded from our homepage.
Contributed papers should be suitable for a 20 to 30 minutes oral
presentation (including discussion) and focus on motivation, statement
of key results and conclusions, and emphasize examples, wherever
possible.

Deadlines:
==========
Jan 31, 1999: Abstract Submission;
Apr 18, 1999: Final Manuscript Submission.

Registration:
=============
Fees, including a proceedings volume, conference materials and 
facilities, all day coffee or tea on site, and a city sight-seeing
tour, are ATS 2.200,- (students ATS 1.300,-), if payment is made
before May, 16. Full time students must have their major advisor's
signature or email address on the registration form. Late registration
fee is ATS 2.800,- (students ATS 1.700,-). Accomodation will be
arranged at various hotels in the city to suit all budgets. An
(electronical) registration form and further information is available
at our homepage.

Social Programme:
=================
Receptions, half-day excursion by bus through a beautiful hilly 
landscape with nice vineyards (wine tasting), Conference Dinner in the
arcaded courtyard of the old Landhaus.
