I'm having trouble retrieving data from my Oracle Database using ODBC on my
NT 4.0 machine. I've done this successfully many times on my old machine,
running Windows '95. I believe that I have everything set up correctly as
far as ODBC goes, because I can reach the database using Oracles ODBC Test
program, and I can retrieve data using MS-Access.
Within S-Plus, I select 'import data...from ODBC connection'. I am able to
log on to Oracle and see my tables. I then select a table and enter a SQL
query, but when I press 'OK', I get the following message:
'ODBC Connection string was 'DSN=testdb;UID=IWATCH; DBQ=TESTDB.WORLD;
ASY=OFF;'.
where testdb is the machine data source name; IWATCH is the user id;
TESTDB.WORLD is the connect string
(i.e., all of these values look reasonable)
I'm using Oracle 7.3 ODBC driver version 2.5; S-Plus 4.5; Windows NT 4.0
