The "image.legend" function does a nice job of creating a color legend for an image plot. I thank David Caccia, Sam Buttrey, Christian Keller, and Stephen Smith for identifying this very nice function for me. I didn't get any responses regarding how to control the color scheme used in an image plot via Splus/Windows V4.5.
