Hi,
I am a relative newcomer to Splus.

I have a vector of categorical
variables, which take one of three values at
each of the 240 vector positions.
My problem is that I want to compute the transition probabilities
for the 9 possible transitions between categories
when moving along the vector from position 1 to position 240.
Is there a function in Splus that allows this - I have read the
Splus Statistics manual and the book by Venables and Ripley,
but can't find any references in them to Markov chain analysis.

Can anyone on the list help?
Thanks
Gordon Hudson
