Well, it was not a stupid question after all.
The problem was (what a shame!) that we are still working with
Splus version 3.4 (for SGI)
Many nice people told me to use the function "rmvnorm" (c.q. dmvnorm,pmvnorm)
and that function is "not" available in our 'old' version.
Bill Venables was so kind to deliver me the source-text and now it is
working!
So, the solution is simply: use Splus-versions >= 4.5 !
