Whoa! Never, ever, delete _data\___nonfi (3 underscores) or the similar
.Data/___nonfiles on Unix. If you do you will lose the names of many of
your Splus datasets. This file is used to store the names of Splus
objects whose names are not valid (or unambiguous) file names. On
Windows these names include any with capital letters, some special characters,
or not fitting the "8.3" mold.

Yes, don't delete _data either, but if you delete _data\___nonfi
it is almost as bad.
