I have an interesting opportunity to extend here at Microsoft. Although I
received my Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Washington,
I'm leading a team that is making Microsoft products more reliable. We
conduct applied research on the reliability of Microsoft software and
systems to determine the root cause of system instability. We use various
mathematical modeling tools and statistics to make predictions as to the
reliability of software throughout the development cycle. Because we are in
a product group responsible for shipping product to customers, that is only
half of the job. The other half is using that information to drive new
product features and architectural changes to Microsoft products. The goal
is to make them more reliable in customer environments.
I'm looking for a smart person who has a passion for technology, an interest
in the above domain area and a background in statistics or mathematical
modeling. An ideal candidate also has a background in computer science. If
you are interested in the position, please contact me with your resume or
CV. If someone you know fits the bill and is interested in such a position,
please give them my e-mail address. The formal job description can be found
on the Microsoft web. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/jobs/search and use
"reliability" as a keyword, Windows NT for the product and Program Manager
for the title. You'll know if it is the correct job if it has a job code of
N05rc-b9. Thanks.
