This is an example of the sometimes irritating inadequacy of
the S(plus) documentation system. All too often the documentation
will be phrased in terms that are comprehensible only to those
who are absolute wizzards in object oriented programming and
in a few million other things as well. For instance if you need
to know/recall something about the syntax of model expressions
in lm() or glm() you have to hunt high and low before you find
it in the documentation for ... damned if I can remember where
the hell I found it. It's there somewhere, but it sure as hell
isn't under ``lm'' or ``glm''.

A similar situation applies to the question about the nsmall option.
You can find out about by seeking help on format.default --- now
isn't that JUST EXACTLY where EVERYBODY would immediately look?
Sheesh.

                                        cheers,
