I wonder if there is a function to take a row of values into
an upper or lower triangular matrix.

Input:
 c( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

Output:
matrix
 ( 0 1 2 3
   0 0 4 5
   0 0 0 6
   0 0 0 0 )

I have pairwise distances that I would like to perform a Multidimensional
Scaling operation on. Have anyone work on a similar problem?
