Dear S+ users,

Could somebody help me finding a reference paper on the following problem,
which should relate to Spatial Statistics:

Starting from section images through a spatial fibre process, compute a
confidence interval around the usual estimator of the Volume Ratio, i.e.
        <sum of the areas of the objects> / <observed field area>.

Even for the simplest case (supposing complete randomness, cylindrical
fibres with circular section of constant diameter and neglecting censoring),
I do not find a starting thread in the litterature.

My images come from mineral fibres imbedded in cement matrix, making in fact
the real case everything excepted simple ...

Thank you for any help.
