Alpha values

Forgive my ignorance, I wish to change the desired alpha value (probability
of a Type I error) from the default to 0.01. More specifically, I wish to
do this using the command line for the rank sum test
(wilcoxon/mann-whitney).   I am using Splus 2000 on a NT machine.  I have
reviewed the online documentation, the Splus 4 manuals and V&R but have had
no luck so far, any help would be appreciated.
