New tools for updating versions

I'd be interested to know what anyone has to say about the tools which
feature in the glossy brochure as Number 9 in the reasons to upgrade
to S-PLUS 6 on Unix.

I shied off updating from Ver 3.4 to Version 5.1 because of the
complications.  Seems as though there were other good reasons not to
go to Vers 5.0.  Has it really become less complicated?
