My appologies to the list for the off-topic post. I'm trying to compile a
brief list of how some different probability distributions are commonly
used in market research (or any business setting). For instance, the beta
distribution is useful to simulate market shares because it produces
estimates between 0 and 1; sales data is typically lognormal. I seem to
recall viewing such a list with many more examples on the internet some
time ago, but I don't recall where. Is anyone familiar with such a list or
have some thoughts?
