Depends rather a lot on the version of S-PLUS and the platform ....

V&R's `S Programming' covers all the current possibilties (the
upcoming S-PLUS 6.0 for Windows will be covered in an on-line complement).

The obvious suggestion is the S-PLUS Programmer's Guide/Manual that
came with your system, so I assume you do not have such a guide.
(In current S-PLUS versions pdf versions are on-line.)
