Excuse a very simple question from a newbee:
I have an SPSS data file with 3000+ variables which is updated on a regular
basis. I want to keep this as an SPSS file, but I would like to be able to
extract different subsets of non-continuous variable for analyses in S-PLUS
data frames.
I have tried the import.data function, but it seems it will only extract a
*continuous* set of variables (with arguments as StartCol = "217", EndCol =
"219"). Does there exist a way to
1. extract non-continuous variables
2. by their SPSS variable names rather than by column numbers
