Thanks Kim;
I was hoping I wasn't alone in my massive praise of S+ and their GUI. I've
used the GUI commands on the PC version, sometime extremely complex ones
(mostly undocumented but incredibly helpful) for all sorts of graphics
manipulations. Once you understand the layering of graphs and the way S+
identifies each layer you can perform any imaginable operation with the huge
list of GUI commands available. S+ 6 has been a lifesaver for datasets that
extend into the multi-millions of points (microarray data) and S+ has performed
quickly, accurately and generated plots and reports that have had a dramatic
impact on persons who need to look at summaries of massive amounts of data.
One of the most underutilized functions of the UNIX version is the S+ Graphlet
and integrated Java calls and functions. This alone is worth the price of
admission. Every day I grow more impressed with the level of detail and
thoughtfulness that Insightful has instilled into their version of the S
language.
Thanks again
