For one more, and very roundabout, answer, you might look at our LaTeX server
for converting S-Plus output to PDF reports
(http://fharrell.biostat.virginia.edu/latex). This server uses a Perl program
to parse S output into LaTeX. It encloses comments in a LaTeX macro \scom{ }
that you could redefine to be ignored.
