A frustrating problem has suddenly appeared when I
attempt to create a multi-line plot.
Using any set of (x,y) pairs, running

plot(x,y)
abline(h=0.2)

results in graphical output from the the first instruction
being cleared by the second, ending up with just the
horizontal line at the correct position had output from the
first instruction remained. To add to the confusion, a
function I wrote several days ago using the same
instructions is working correctly. But when I cut and
paste the instructions from this function, from the file I
store this code in associated with the editor I use, into
the command window, it behaves as initially described.
Any suggestions of what is going on and how to fix it?

I am running S-Plus 4 release 3 for Windows on a new
PC.
