Your classical statistical model fits may be corrupted by outliers
that you won't even know exist in your data. Consequently your
predictive model is not very reliable. Robust statistics provides
you with a reliable solution to dealing with outliers in your data.

We are most pleased to be able to present to you the special two-day
course "Robust Statistics (and Data Mining for Outliers)" by Prof.Dr.
Doug Martin.

Doug Martin - is professor of statistics at the University of
Washington and chief scientist at Insightful Corporation, both
located in Seattle, Washington.

He is the "godfather" of S-PLUS by founding the company StatSci in
1987. Doug took the S language which is and was developed at Lucent
Technologies (Bell Labs) and put it in S-PLUS. as you might know
this initiative grew into S-PLUS being one of the most used
statistical data analysis software packages.

His expertise lies in the field of robust statistics and he is
co-author of over 50 research papers, many in the area of robust
statistics. He is also author of the extensive built-in library
"Robust Statistics" in S-PLUS 6.

In many data sets outliers occur, and with the growing research in
the robust statistics field these outliers can be handled in a
reliable way. Consequently your research will be more accurate by
adjusting for these outliers in an appropriate statistical manner.
