Importing SAS version 8 datasets into S-Plus

Is it possible to import SAS version 8 datasets (i.e. extension .sas7bdat files) into S-Plus 2000 ?  I have tried to use the sas.get (...) function from the HMISC library without success — it appears to only accept .sd2 files.
