Calling S from C/C++

Hi,

My understanding is that it is NOT possible to call Splus functions (e.g. 
for random number generation) from C or C++ programs, except in the case 
where the C/C++ program was originally called from Splus.  Is this 
correct?  I am hoping that I am, in fact, mistaken.
