matrix symmetry

Does anybody know how to check for matrix symmetry in SPlus 6.0 with Spatial+ add on module?  Unfortunately, SP 6.0 does not have the Matrix library, so the "is.Hermitian" function to check for matrix symmetry is not available.  I would appreciate any input on this.
