Dear All,
I bought Microsoft C++ .NET (v7), hoping to use it with CONNECT/C++ in S+ 6.1
for Windows (2000). Having had some problems, I found Charles Annis'
thoroughgoing messages from July this year. Having contacted him off the list,
it seems that the problems have been well acknowledged by Insightful, but are
ongoing.
So, my question is: can anyone out there recommend a version of C++ which works
well with S+ 6.0/6.1 for Windows? As a C++ novice I would like to use as many
of the CONNECT/C++ tools as possible. The content of what I want to do is not
too fancy: recode some specialized likelihood functions from pure S+ to C++, in
order to speed them up. One constraint: having already used grant money to buy
something which turns out not to work, any additional version of C++ would need
to be cheap!
(Finally, I know, with hindsight, maybe I should have gone for another OS, but
I already bought S+ for Windows!)
TIA,
Neal
