smoothing density plot

Quick charting question:

Is there a method to smooth a densityplot using either densityplot(~data) or 
plot(density(data)) or (better) using guiPlot(PlotType = "Density",....).  
I'd like to smooth the jagged edges near the mode.
S+ 6.1 Windows 2000.
