1 - TOPICS
Ten years ago, in Grenoble 1994, wavelets were quite an unknown attractive new tool for statisticians. Ten years later, in Grenoble 2003, wavelets
are essentially well-known and widely used, we know more or less when they can be effective and when probably not, so the intention of this meeting is to summarize things and make us think about other new exciting directions. This meeting will bring together researchers or practitioners, analysts or statisticians, to present an up-to-date review of the current state-of-the-art, to assess the relative advantages and limitations of wavelets for various statistical applications and to identify trends for future development.

The meeting will focus on various aspects of wavelets and their applications in various statistical, signal processing and image analysis contexts,
including

·       Approximation Theory and Wavelets
·       Nonparametric Regression and Classification
·       Compression and De-noising of Images
·       Wavelets and Point Processes
·       Wavelet Applications to Survival and Reliability Analysis
·       Contour Detection and Segmentation
·       Multiresolution Analysis and Markov chains
·       Hypothesis Testing
·       Inverse Problems and Regularization
·       Signal processing; Independent Component Analysis
·       Nonstationary Time series Analysis
·       Bayesian Methods
·       Change-Point Processes
·       ANOVA

5 - CALL FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS

Given the short time of the meeting and the fact that no parallel sessions will be scheduled, and the emphasis on the invited seminars, there will be no more than 18 contributed talks and no more than 20 poster presentations (at most 8 A4 pages).

DEADLINE for Abstracts and Poster submissions: April 30th, 2003.

Abstracts of Contributed Talks and Poster Presentations should be sent electronically or via the web pages (to any member of the organizing committee) as a TEX file or PDF text file. They will be reviewed, and acceptance or rejection will be notified on June 10th 2003.

Selected papers related to the talks and poster presentations at this meeting will be refereed and published as a special issue in ESAIM: Probability and Statistics.
