S+ArrayAnalyzer is the result of a collaboration between Insightful
the BioConductor project (www.bioconductor.org) -- an open source and
open development software project for the analysis and comprehension
of genomic data. S+ArrayAnalyzer includes several BioConductor
libraries which have been ported to S-PLUS and we thank the
BioConductor project -- in particular Sandrine Dudoit, Rafael
Irizarry, Vince Carey, and Robert Gentleman -- for their contributions
to this project. We are particularly pleased to be able to bring the
fruits of their expertise to a wider audience. We will be sponsoring a
BioConductor graduate student to help drive continued advancements and
innovation in both the open source and commercial offerings; and we
will be contributing a differential expression library to R and
BioConductor in the summer of 2003.
We think S+ArrayAnalyzer is a blueprint of how Insightful can work
with the open-source community to promote adoption of modern
analytical techniques to the widest possible user base. This
cooperation improves the analytic solutions available to our common
base of S programmers and the non-statisticians who benefit from using
applications developed with S-PLUS and R.
