Thread-topic: [S] Unexplainable error in using the syntax 'function'
I have some questions for the lme experts out there. First, in a two level
model for example, is there a way to set either the within group error to a
specific, fixed value that does not change during the optimization (0 is one
possibility but other values as well) or to set arbitrary elements of the
between groups random effect covariance matrix to specific, fixed values.
Second, is there a way to estimate models that have no between group random
effects but only the within group random effects? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
