For the obselete S-PLUS 2000 they recommended the discontinued Watcom
compiler. That case *is* covered in S Programming itself.
I do have the Watcom compilers, but there has been rumoured to be a
freeware resurrection of them. However, as the originals do not work
under Windows XP and I have not used S-PLUS 2000 for over a year
I have not attempted to try the `new' versions.
