Insightful is pleased to announce that S-PLUS 6.2 is now available for
Windows. Updates are being shipped today to Windows customers in North
America under active maintenance contracts, with worldwide updates to follow
shortly thereafter. Updates for Unix & Linux customers will begin shipping
within the first 3 months of 2004.
S-PLUS 6.2 adds to the functionality of S-PLUS 6.1 in several ways:
* New XML support, including creation of custom tabular reports
* New batch mode, including verbose logging for validated environments
* Native database support
* Enhancements to S-PLUS Graphlets
* Design of Experiments library
* Updates to the MASS (Venables/Ripley) and Hmisc/Design (Harrell) libraries
* Links to new research libraries from Insightful
* and many other improvements
The new Research libraries available now include S+CorrelatedData (with GEE
and GLMM models), S+BEST (for nonparametric adaptive estimation) and S+Bayes
(including heierarchical linear mixed models). These libraries are available
on an experimental basis now, before being included in a later version of
S-PLUS. You can download them from
http://www.insightful.com/downloads/libraries/ or by using the link in the
Help menu of S-PLUS 6.2.
As a maintenance release, S-PLUS 6.2 also provides a number of enhancements
focused on the stability and reliability of the S-PLUS interface and engine.
You can find complete information about the changes to S-PLUS 6.2 at
www.insightful.com/support/splus62win.
S-PLUS 6.2 is fully integrated with Insightful Miner, meaning that you can
take advantage of Insightful Miner's pipeline architecture to apply S-PLUS
scripts to very large data sets. More information about how S-PLUS and
Insightful Miner work together can be found at
www.insightful.com/products/iminer.
My personal thanks go to all of our beta testers and others who provided
input and guidance for this release.
Enjoy!
