Andy was kind enough to reply to my question about ssType3. It works for him, and it turns out it works for me too, on another computer, or on the same computer using a different .Data directory. So evidently I have written over some internal function necessary to ssType3. Not a pretty thought, who knows what else it is screwing up? Is there a way to diagnose such problems to avoid reinstalling entirely?
