I recently switched from Splus 2000 to Splus 6.2 and found that the
Import Data function (from the menu) seems to truncate my variable names
at 35 characters while previously there did not seem to be a limit. As
tedious as it may seem, we typically want the complete question from a
survey as the variable name so we are sure we are working with the
correct data. This truncation unfortunately makes this difficult. Has
anyone else run into this problem and is there a work around (read table
seems to not truncate the names but it is not available from the menu.)

Best regards,

Michael Conklin
