Replicated Spatial Point Patterns

I would like to replicate Fig.3 of a paper by Diggle et al (1991)
Journal of the American Statistical Association 86:618. Using SPlus
for Windows, I generated a figure that is similar but not identical which
means that I am doing something wrong.  If somebody is interested in
helping me, the data (benes.d and benes.explain) can be dowloaded from
http://www.maths.lancs.ac.uk/~diggle/pointpatterns/Datasets/
