Keeping X axis labeling as dates not numbers

Dear list members,

 

I'm drawing graphs showing changes over time of population estimates for a number of animals species. My X-axis variable is the date the count was done while Y_axis is the population estimate.

 

Problem is when plotting the graph using a script, where I include the model fitted to the data I get the X-axis labeled with numbers instead of the dates which are the values of my X-variable
