I don't know the answer, but I also have the same problem and would be
equally grateful for advice.

Subject: [S] Funny problems with data entry
Hello,
My apologies in advance for the technical question. I am a user of S-Plus
2000 and all of a sudden I can no longer enter data into any datasheet. If I
type e.g. '1' into a cell, I get '11', '2' I get '222' and so on, and
different combinations of digits result in an endless series of them. What
is going on? It looks like a keyboard buffer problem, though disabling the
Buffer Data Entry option did not work. Like I said, this happened
unexpectedly, possibly because of a program's internal error or something. I
have also tried to re-install twice, to no avail. (Btw this data entry
problem is affecting only S-Plus spreadsheets, and not Excel ones).
Can someone help? I would hate to have to re-format my computer just for
this!
Many thanks in advance,
Lorenzo Vilizzi
