This is a bug deep inside the S-Plus interpreter.  Call Insightful support
at 1-800-569-0123.  Can you duplicate it with something small that stands by 
itself?
If so send it to them (support@insightful.com).  If not (and it is very hard to
duplicate that type of error with a small script), talk to someone there for 
advice
on how to proceed.
