Edward Tufte writes
about alternatives to the traditional boxplots. For example, in order to
maximize the data-ink ratio, he describes boxplots that don't resemble boxplots
at all. They are more like lines, dots and empty space. Quite clever really.
Does anyone have any
example code to create such plots? Is there a pre-defined function in S-plus to
produce a similar plot?
Here is an example using
plain text:
Boxplot:
[ -----[ *
] -----]
Alternate
method:
----- * -----
Sorry for the pitiful
demonstration in plain text. Didn't know how else to demonstrate the
effect.
Thanks
Tom
