Stack Column Question

Hi,

 

Using S-Plus 6.2 for Windows.

 

I have a dataframe with appr. 3600 and 164 columns. At the moment I stack 160 columns with the add-in function “menuStackColumns”.

This action takes S-Plus more than 5 minutes and it uses a lot of memory. Does there exist a more efficient way to perform the above action.
