The easiest way to create boxplots with individual colors is to use
the functions we provide in the online files that accompany our
recent book

                Statistical Analysis and Data Display
Richard M. Heiberger and Burt Holland

The functions and examples are available on the HH online files from
the book's webpage
   http://springeronline.com/0-387-40270-5
Follow the link to the "Online Files from Authors" on the right of
the book's webpage.

The cover of the book, visible on the book's webpage and the download
page, shows a bwplot in four colors. At the bottom of the download
page, in the section "Sample Graphs", is a link to the original graph
from which the cover was abstracted. A black and white version of
this graph appears on page 479 of the book.

A link to another graph, showing user control over both the placement
and the color of the boxplots, is also on the download page.
