Plotting using color for signal value

I have data with x y coordinates and a signal value, z. I would like to show a scatter plot with the color of each point depending on the value of z. This is easy to do from the gui but I would like to do it automatically. I’m having trouble finding the documentation for doing that with plot.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
