Dear S-news readers:
S-PLUS 8 - the next version of S-PLUS - will be released in late 2006. This
release offers a number of new features and enhancements to existing features
including:
* S-PLUS Package System: This feature will provide statistical developers a
convenient framework for creating and distributing libraries for S-PLUS.
* S Language Extensions: We have added over a hundred new functions as part
of our commitment to providing cutting edge statistical programming
capabilities and to support the S-PLUS Package System.
* S-PLUS Workbench Debugger: This feature - available only in S-PLUS 8
Enterprise Developer and S-PLUS 8 Enterprise Developer Server - allows users
to debug S-PLUS code from within the Eclipse Workbench.
* Bug fixes and minor improvements
We will be conducting a Beta Program of this release from April to August. If
